Your electric provider is raising rates and partying with the Governor-elect
Submitted by electric on Thu, 12/04/2008 - 11:36amYour electric bill to Progress Energy, Duke Energy, ElectriCities (the middle man collector for your city), Dominion and the Rural Cooperatives now goes for some fun at a party. The Daily Advance called ElectriCities beach bash “poopin the party” but I call this “lighting the party.”
No offense Governor-elect Perdue but I would expect this from McCrory but not you. I could have seen this deal unfolding with McCrory and Duke. Don’t let these people pay the way for your Inaugural Ball. It is wrong when rates are going up and people cannot afford proper heat and light. Especially ElectriCities – they should have been (from pure common sense) prevented from spending money on parties any more.
Electric Rate Increase of 4% in Eastern NC - Why? - ElectriCities needs to build up a rainy day fund
Submitted by electric on Wed, 11/19/2008 - 9:06pmCEO of ElectriCities Jesse Tilton is out; the power of the community organizers and friends here at BlueNC
Tilton is out. The ElectriCities board called a special meeting for a closed session, personnel issues, and held it at the Law Firm, an unusual location. The message went out to members of our group who are on the list to receive notices. We immediately knew something was up.
Word leaked out. Tilton is out. But of course, now they are painting it as a resignation to pursue other interests. Not buying it but that is alright. We turned the state blue this week and now we have a fighting chance to repair the damage of 13 years of AIG/ENRON-like CEO blunders at ElectriCities.

ElectriCities and Jesse Tilton at it again - More High Rates and More Reckless Spending

The spending continues and there is even a budget increase. My, my. No budget cuts. The ads keep on coming. The ones on NCSPIN cannot be cheap and the one running now is worthless. The magazine ads are worthless. New cars, hybrid cars, more trips, staff running around stepping on themselves. Worthless and reckless.
Jesse Tilton, ElectriCities chief executive officer, offered several alternatives that could impact the electric rate in the future. Several would require borrowing money and one involves extending the NCEMPA debt beyond 2026.
AIG Executives Party on the Tax Payer - Sounds a lot like ElectriCities management and board
Reprinted with permission from JJ, in Wilson, a member of a local investment group. How true. Sounds so familiar to the big Beach Party Bash and the lack of remorse for that event.

This article is worth reading. Seems very familiar ... only the NEW, as in the previous CEO is out, gets it a little bit and spoke up with some accountability. Something we have not seen ElectriCities do, board or CEO.
From the article,
“AIG Chief Executive Officer Edward Liddy, who replaced former CEO Robert Willumstad as a condition of the federal loan, today told Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson that the company intends to reevaluate expenses.

Editorial: Pooping the party
Saturday, August 16, 2008
No doubt it was not ElectriCities' intention to show how ridiculously insensitive, self-serving and out of touch elected officials can be. But by staging its annual meeting at the Marriott Resort & Spa at Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach, S.C., last weekend, just weeks after raising its members' electricity rates by 14 percent, the group managed to do just that.
