Calling on North Carolina CEOs to stand for equality
It's a pretty sad day in the Old North State when captains of industry and business are silent on Republican efforts to discriminate against their workers. And sadder still that they have to look to the CEO of Goldman Sachs as a role model.
Help build the list of North Carolina CEOs who put political expedience ahead of the rights of their workers. If they aren't speaking up against the Marriage Discrimination Amendment, they are part of the problem. If they are contributing to candidates who support the Marriage Discrimination Amendment, they are part of the problem. It's time for them to stand up and be counted - one way or the other.
- Jim Rogers of Duke Energy. Not only silent, he's putting the coffers of his company behind electing Pat McCrory, North Carolina's leading marriage bigot.
- Brian Moynihan at Bank of America. Where do you stand on a constitutional amendment that would discriminate against your employees?
- Brad Wilson of Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Is your company putting money behind candidates who stand for discrimination?
- Robert Niblock of Lowes. You have thousands of gay employees. Do you stand for or against an amendment to make them second-class citizens?
- Art Pope of Variety Wholesalers. No surprise that you're using your profits to fund candidates who will discriminate against your employees. No surprise at all.

CEOs may be silent; Cunningham is not
Is it worse to be a bigot or be afraid of bigots?
I'd like that answer from the silent business community as well.
