Charlotte Observer Endorses Robin Anderson

Today, The Charlotte Observer Endorsed Robin Anderson For Commissioner of Labor.

The Observer has been leading the way on investigating worker safety in NC, especially with its recent articles on the House of Raeford.

The Observer asks an important question,

Why is change needed? An Observer investigation into poultry processing in the Carolinas uncovered how lax oversight and loopholes in rules have allowed that dangerous industry to exploit workers and underreport crippling injuries. Yet how did current Labor Commissioner Cherie Berry respond to her department's feeble inspection record: She said "we're going to keep doing what we're doing."

They then go through each of the candidates, ending up at Robin.

Robin Anderson is a Raleigh employment lawyer who knows employment law inside-out. She says her first priorities would be stronger enforcement of worker safety rules and helping workers with complaints. She says fines for repeat and egregious offenses are too small.

Ms. Anderson is passionate about worker safety, and more apt to ruffle feathers in an effort to get things done. "I am bold," she stated emphatically in her interview with the Observer.

We believe that kind of passion is needed to reform the labor department. We recommend Robin Anderson.

We are obviously extremely happy with this endorsement. Hopefully it will be a sign of things to come.

I loved meeting her yesterday.

I can make all the decisions I want based on reading materials and research online, but when you get to speak directly to a candidate and just thank them for running, it makes a world of difference; now I know I'm not just trusting written words and Will to know that she's the right choice. I'm trusting myself.

I'm glad she's running.

Be the change you wish to see in the world. --Gandhi

I cheered.....heh...in your ear!

Sorry. I hope the ringing stops soon.

Robin is a ball of fire. She is really energetic and passionate about worker safety. I think the Observer absolutely made the right call.

Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

I like Robin, she seems like the rare combination....

of a good candidate who is a really good person as well.

The Dark Side Chronicles

Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory says he wants to change the culture in Raleigh. I guess that's why he wrote this letter to PAC lobbyists asking for their fundraising help. Change you can believe in? Riiiiiiight. Join the conversation here.
