For the record. This is a good win, no matter how small the turnout. A strong, smart woman going head to head with The Cherie Berry. I'm sure Ms. Donnan would appreciate some help.

Yes Congratulations Mary!
Competing with Madam Elevator will be difficult. Someone on Mary's campaign suggested that they'll need to raise $250,000 and the Obama campaign will need to keep McCain below 53% to win. I think it will be harder to raise the dough than to get the poll numbers. Raising $250K for a down ticket race is awfully difficult.

I voted at 6:20 PM and I was voter #12 for the entire day. That is pitiful. At least my candidate won.
Beyond Pitiful
Turnout statewide, according to the North Carolina State Board of Elections was 1.89%. In some counties it was even below 1%.
In Graham County, in the far west, Donnan Brooks tied with a mere 13 votes apiece. They tied in all five of the county's precincts, including the one precinct where they both got zero votes.
It is time for NC to go to an instant runoff system.
