Could you stand it if BlueNC had advertising?

Yes take advertising

James,

I think this blog could use the money to help keep the lights on and support progressive politics in NC. Civitas has their daddy Art Pope - BlueNC has it's readers and progressive organizations that want to spread their message.

This site could use a little sprucing up - do it!

Sprucing up?

Would love some specific suggestions. I don't necessarily need advertisers to come with funds to make investments ... if I knew where to make them.

If BlueNC could accept, or not accept any advertisement......

then it may be prudent, but if BlueNC would be, in any way, constraind by some law prohibiting you from denying an advertiser....then it may be wise to reconsider doing it.

BlueNC needs support...and this may help if you can remain true to you....while benefitting from that support.

I really love BlueNC.... I want what is best for the BlueNC ... You will do the right thing James. You usually do.

Marshall Adame

I think it's okay

It sure would be cool if we could run ads or even partner with companies like this. And it would be even cooler if we could find a NC version.

content control

Would you be able to control who advertises or would it be one of those automated services?

Control would be critical to me

I'm leaning against advertising ... mostly because it's so damn ugly. I know everyone doesn't "love" the look of BlueNC, but as the person who spends the most time here, I kind of like it. The idea of an ugly ad hanging on the front page for six weeks or whatever ... doesn't feel right to me.

Didn't we used to have advertising on BlueNC?

I seem to remember some campaign ads from time to time.

Also, there seems to be an ad for this great book I've heard about called Jesus Swept to the right of this comment box, here :)

We did have advertising once upon a time

I think we made a few hundred dollars over a couple of years. I stopped accepting it because one of the ads was so offensive (both in design and substance) that I found myself wanted to boycott my own blog.

And you're right ... there is one ad running off and on ... but it's buried at the bottom of the page in a place that no "real" advertiser would want.

I'll sell you that green eyeball if you want ... cheap.

:/

Are you kidding?

No. No way. I would like there to be at least one place avaiable for reasoned political discussion untainted by the effing "free" market.
