Durham, NC – Over the next month, North Carolina is the epicenter of US politics. And, amid the primary party, Traction, the state’s premier social network for progressive activism, is proud to present ELECTILE DYSFUNCTION II: Wrath of the SuperDelegates, Friday and Saturday, April 11—12, at The Trotter Building (410 W. Geer St.), across from Manbites Dog Theater, in Durham, NC. Doors open at 7 PM. Tickets are available for a suggested minimum donation of $10 at www.getTraction.org.
This timely Traction benefit will feature the progressive works of leading local actors, directors and musicians, from A-Z, including Adam Sampieri, Nicole Quenelle, Jim Haverkamp, Jay O'Berski, Dana Marks and Zephyr Teachout. During this historic, two-night political theater sideshow, these artists and auteurs join other renowned Tractivists to provide live music, unforgettable acting and a double dose of democratic dialoguing in an open environment that allows audiences the unique opportunity to float among various politically-savvy performance stops on this theatrical tour de force.
“We're psyched to host this amazing collection of talented performers and bring together a slew of funny, powerful and political works of theatrical art for North Carolina’s consumption,” says Traction’s Lanya Shapiro. “'Tis the season!”
A host of progressive pieces capture the power and importance of this election season, including a theatrical adaptation of the cult classic comic strip GET YOUR WAR ON, directed by Jim Haverkamp (with live music by The Wigg Report); CLOUD NINE, by Dana Marks; SHIRL!, directed by Jay O'Berski with Lormarev Jones as Shirley Chisholm; Chomsky's MANUFACTURING CONSENT; Pinter's ONE FOR THE ROAD; and experimental political music from Greensboro band, INVISIBLE.
And don’t miss all of the event’s fabulous food, cash bar drinks amid more political performances at their peak from David Berberian, Danny Bischoff, Solomon Gibson, Lormarev Jones, Frank Lentricchia, Tom Marriott, Michael O'Foghludha, Rajeev Rajendran, Emily Ranii, Lamont Reed, Lucius Robinson and Meredith Sause, with direction by John Justice, Tom Marriott, Jody McAuliffe and Lucius Robinson and music from Rus hames and John Justice.
As the first Traction benefit of 2008, Durham’s own non-partisan civic engagement and leadership development organization plans to use all proceeds from ELECTILE DYSFUNCTION II to support Traction’s unique and important mission: to build a community of energized and engaged citizen-activists who will power the progressive movement and change the direction of this country.
“Traction is working to make politics sexy again. ELECTILE DYSFUNCTION II is just one of many fun, issue-based Traction events that inform, inspire and connect savvy Gen X & Yers,” says Shapiro.
ELECTILE DYSFUNCTION II: Wrath of the SuperDelegates is hosted by Traditional Neighborhood Development Partners. To volunteer for this event or other upcoming Traction events, contact Cara by e-mail, at use.me@getTraction.org.

I <3 Traction
Being an old man, I guess I don't qualify as a 20- or 30 something. But that doesn't stop me from being a big Traction fan. I love this idea.
Heck, James,
you qualify twice!
