Labor Commish

A friend is running for Labor Commissioner, so I thought I would post her press release here. This is an important job overseeing worker safety, wage and hour issues, retaliation against workers with job-related injuries, etc.

ROBIN ANDERSON TO RUN FOR COMMISSIONER OF LABOR

Raleigh – Robin Anderson, a lawyer and Chair of the State Personnel Commission, announced today that she will run for Commissioner of Labor.
Anderson, a Democrat, is a partner with the firm Nicholls & Crampton, P.A. in Raleigh. She has represented individuals and employers in employment-related matters since 1990, and has been named one of the “Legal Elite” by Business North Carolina magazine in the area of Employment Law.
“If elected, I pledge to work every day to help businesses and employees thrive in a safe, healthy and productive work environment” said Anderson. “I look forward to talking with voters around the state about my vision for the North Carolina Department of Labor.”
Anderson was appointed to the State Personnel Commission in 1999 as recommended by Senator Marc Basnight and was named Chair in 2007 by Governor Mike Easley. She has taught business law in the MBA program at Meredith College, has served in a leadership capacity on several councils of the North Carolina Bar Association, and has presented seminars on employment matters to administrative and trial lawyers as well as a diverse range of business associations.
Prior to entering the private practice of law, Anderson served as a law clerk for Senior Justice Louis B. Meyer of the North Carolina Supreme Court. She earned her law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and her B.A. cum laude in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
