More Better Democrats before June 30th

Goal ThermometerWe have a myriad opportunities for change this year. We can put Larry Kissell over the top, and I'm sure we can find a Democratic upset out there, somewhere. Our goal should be to make the North Carolina Republican Congressional Delegation the easiest to remember in the South - because there will only be 4 Congressmen and 1 Senator after this year.

So why not help out and see if we can get over 100 by the fundraising deadline? If you gave your 10 for Jim, maybe you can give 20 to Hagan. Or do what RobertP does, and cut out that pizza dinner this week. But whatever you do, lets give the media a story they can't ignore - well-funded Democrats prepared for victory in November.

Harry Taylor for Congress: Rep. Myrick’s Offshore Drilling Proposal an Ineffective Publicity Stunt

In a publicity stunt, Sue Myrick claims that the answer to high gas prices is to drill off the coast of North Carolina. What Myrick won’t say is that her proposal will not reduce the price of gas one single penny.

A new Harry Taylor video

Last weekend I attended an event that was also attended by US Congressional Candidate for the 9th District, Harry Taylor. This video includes the clips from that event.

Harry Taylor: The Norman Rockwell Moment

On April 6, 2006 George W. Bush convened a town hall meeting at Central Piedmont Community College in downtown Charlote, North Carolina. He expected a very favorable, controlled setting for his own self-glorification.

If different in any way from fourscore and seven similar gatherings elsewhere in the country, Bush expected the people of the central Carolinas area to be especially welcoming of his talk of necessary sacrifices and defense of freedom.

He expected a Norman Rockwell moment. Boy, did he get one.

Harry Taylor for Congress: 5 Long Years; Bring Them Home

“In my lifetime, I have never felt more ashamed of, nor more frightened by my leadership in Washington, including the presidency...I feel like despite your rhetoric, that compassion and common sense have been left far behind during your administration, and I would hope from time to time that you have the humility and the grace to be ashamed of yourself.”

Harry Taylor for Congress on FISA

The Senate is taking an important vote on FISA this week, a vote that is it is critical to restoring our civil liberties.

Meanwhile, Sue Myrick offers nothing but fear itself:

SCHIP Wall of Shame: Sue Myrick, (R) NC-09

Families USA has erected a “Wall of Shame” on their website, and my opponent, Rep. Sue Myrick, (R), NC-09, has earned her place by voting NO to expand kids health care coverage, and NO to override Bush’s veto of this bill.

Your ideal chance to meet a lot of candidates!

The morning of January 12th will be your ideal chance to meet a lot of Democratic candidates that are running this year. The Cabarrus County Democratic Women are having their yearly breakfast fundraiser and a whole list of Democratic candidates are scheduled to appear.

A New Year on the horizon..…time to end the Iraq War

Back in April 2007, prior to making the decision to run for Congress, I wrote this letter to Rep. Sue Myrick (R), NC-09. Her continued decision to support never-ending war in Iraq, and refusal to take responsibility for the Marissa Strock’s of our nation helped me decide to challenge Rep. Myrick for her congressional seat in 2008.
