Jay Ovittore Speaks at BlueNC Blogger Bash

Yard Sign Violence

So I snapped this pic with my phone this morning as it was the third shredded one I ran across while leaving Greensboro to head to work this morning.

Now I’m an old-tymer. I am well aware that yard signs are the most common victims of campaign violence. However, I was concerned when we received a phone call from a concerned voter who stated that there were Ovittore signs in a closet at an early voting site.

And the investigation begins.....

Southern Pines Pilot recommends Jay Ovittore to voters in NC 06

The editors of The Pilot in Southern Pines has made, in my opinion, the right choice in recommending that Democratic and Unaffiliated voters that vote in the Democratic Primary in NC-06 choose Jay Ovittore as their candidate to face Howard Coble in November, who they believe it will be "hard to dislodge". <!--break-->

Event Tonight In Greensboro

Alamance County Democratic Convention

I had the honor of representing Jim Neal at the Alamance County Democratic Convention today, and luckily, he showed up just in the nick of time so I could avoid the public speaking aspect of my surrogate duties (whew).

I'm sure I would have done just fine, but since I actually live in Alamance County, it's not like I could just fade away and never come back if I tumbled over a chair ala "America's Funniest Home Videos" or accidentally dropped an F-bomb while speaking. While they may not be as horrific as the nightmare where you show up at school naked, these things were playing in the back of my mind, nevertheless.

Here's our glorious and recently face-lifted courthouse where the Convention took place:

Veritas

Veritas.

This Latin word for Truth is dead, but is its meaning? It very definition implies an honesty we rarely see in our own lives let alone in politics.

"Moderating" the 6th District Debate

I don't know if I moderated or liberalized the debate in Asheboro tonight, but at least I can say I didn't 'conserve' it.

So This Is A Democracy?

6th District Congressional Candidates to Debate

The three candidates competing for the Democratic nomination in the Sixth District U.S. House race will debate at least twice in the next few weeks.

Teresa Sue Bratton of Greensboro, Johnny Carter of Summerfield and Jay Ovittore of Greensboro have all agreed to participate in debates to be held in Greensboro and Asheboro; a third meeting may also be scheduled. All will be open to the public at no charge.
The first round will take place on Tuesday, March 25, at 8 p.m. in Joseph M. Bryan Jr. Auditorium of the Frank Family Science Center at Guilford College.

The second debate will take place Thursday, April 3, at 7 p.m. at the Democratic Party Headquarters for the Randolph County Democratic Party, 125 South Church Street, Asheboro.

Mac Whatley, Chair of the Randolph County Democratic Party, will moderate.

Teresa Sue Bratton Live-Blog March 20th

This coming Thursday evening, from 7 to 8 p.m., Teresa Sue Bratton will live-blog here at BlueNC. She will run against Jay Ovittore in the Democratic Primaries and they are both running for the seat that Howard Coble (6th Congressional) currently occupies. Please visit her website and leave questions if you won't be able to attend.

I Know I Am Not Supposed To....But

I know I am not supposed to, but the time is right. I am endorsing Jim Neal for US Senate. It was tough for me to do this. I am a candidate and I am not supposed to take sides in any race. Even tougher is the candidate I am opposing here is a friend and a power house in my home county. I thought long and hard about this decision as I know both candidates fairly well.

Democratic Women of Moore County

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingThe dining room was filled to capacity with possibly one or two empty seats. The atmosphere crackled with the excitement of the upcoming events on our pathway to true change. Jerry Meek, the North Carolina Democratic Party’s Chair was the guest speaker and four candidates for office were working the crowd.

Bobbie Burrell, the outgoing President welcomed everyone, offering the candidates an opportunity to speak “a sentence or two” about themselves.
