Recently, I was attending a political convention and picked up a brochure for a Congressional candidate. I was shocked at what I read.

While her latest endorser is out making slurs against the gay community, Senator Hillary Clinton (D-$109 Million)employs a southern accent (so we'll understand her) to tell an audience in North Carolina what a tough life she's had.

Jed, over at the Jed Report, has made a video of Hillary's speech showing how she is just like all of us.

Matthew Murray writes about one of my favorite topics in this morning's edition of Roll Call; unseating Elizabeth Dole. Unfortunately, some of what the article reports is not news we'd like to hear.

Murray writes that:

In the week since Bob Geary of the Independent Weekly reported on a possible Grier Martin vs. Elizabeth Dole Senate race, a few bloggers have started to pick up the buzz. Notably, Senate 2008 Guru and liberal pontificator Daily Kos have weighed in on the possibility that Grier might jump in.

The Mainstream Media absolutely loves the idea of ups and downs. Whether it is the N & O’s pretty arrows, the dunce hats and cowboy hats of the Indy, or the classic Cheers and Jeers; everyone loves to give accolades and hate.

Well, today I am going to try and do the same for North Carolina Politics.

This blog has been all over the OLF story. However, the N&O front page told about the lack of concern for the citizenry by Burr and Dole.

How about the local dems? Is the grassroots going to fight for the people downeast?

The following post is a recap of recent politics in North Carolina, and why I think they point to an unseating of Elizabeth Dole in 2008. I know it is rather long, but please bear with me.

It has been a long time since a Democratic candidate for the White House has won the state of North Carolina. Because of this, my state is often painted red on national maps. This view was aided by the elections of Elizabeth Dole in 2002 and Richard Burr in 2004. Additionally, our congressional delegation was at 7-6 Republican for too long. But, changes are afoot.

It's always amusing to watch purveyors of non-profit snake-oil when they're moving in to sell their voodoo. First they shuck and jive, telling you they really don't really like having to ask for your money. Then they hem and haw, building a pretty house of cards to capture your fancy. And finally they close, promising that anyone wise enough to part with their cash will be joining a long and illustrious list of donors.
