Liddy Dole just rolled out a new attack ad on Kay Hagan--one that, to my mind, went several miles over the line.

Let's see here now--portraying your opponent, who happens to be a woman, as a yipping dog. Am I the only one who thinks Dole just called Hagan a "bitch"? I've seen some dirty, below-the-belt attack ads in my time, but this takes the cake.

"Maybe Elizabeth Dole doesn't stand by her ad because she knows that for the past six years she hasn't been standing up for North Carolina's families."

Today the NCDP filed their second ethics complaint in a week against Elizabeth Dole. This time its Federal Election Law that Elizabeth Dole has violated. For more, continue below the fold.

Last Friday night Jim Neal and BlueNC blogger Sam Spencer came to Asheboro to meet some of our Randolph County voters. About 22 people came to the Coffee Xchange, kindly provided by good Dem G.P. Hanspal, and asked Jim questions for over an hour.

The debate between the five Democratic candidates running to take on Elizabeth Dole in the general election is available as a podcast from Public Radio East. Those participating were Duskin Lassiter of Lexington, Marcus Williams of Lumberton, Jim Neal of Chapel Hill, Howard Staley of Moncure and Kay Hagan of Greensboro. Megen George, News Director for PRE moderated the debate. A very generous grant from Chestnut, Clemmons & Peacock, P.A. made the live broadcast possible.

Swing State Project is declaring that Hagan will run.

In the week since Bob Geary of the Independent Weekly reported on a possible Grier Martin vs. Elizabeth Dole Senate race, a few bloggers have started to pick up the buzz. Notably, Senate 2008 Guru and liberal pontificator Daily Kos have weighed in on the possibility that Grier might jump in.

We have two scenarios that will lead to a strong Progressive beating Elizabeth Dole.
