ATTN: Veterans, Families of, Friends of, Caring Others

The beginning of this is an attempt to bring you up to speed on what has been going on this past year leading up to the purpose of this post, a New Investigation on Veterans Care, and the request for those listed in the subject title to get involved with, especially the Veterans having their troubles with the VA and their Care.

Serve With The General - Vote Now

Today, the WesPAC and Democrats Work communities launched a contest to determine which Congressional District General Wes Clark is going to visit this summer.

This won’t be an ordinary visit. General Clark will travel to one Congressional District where a Democratic challenger is fighting to change the direction of our country to work side-by-side with area Democrats to make a positive impact through community service. We want you to tell us where we should put our values into action.

You can cast your vote here: www.DemocratsWork.org.

Fort Drum: The Tip of a Tragic Iceberg

What happens when you deploy troops who have seen high intensity combat time and time again with inadequate dwell time between tours? You see skyrocketing mental health issues.

After months of investigative work, talking to our troops and veterans, we released a report on the situation at Fort Drum in Watertown, New York. Since 9/11, the 2nd Brigade Combat Team has been deployed for more than forty months, more than any other brigade in the Army, and we are seeing what is nothing short of a cry for help from the men and women on the base; a cry we will answer here in North Carolina, which has seen thousands of its soldiers deployed time and time again from Fort Bragg.

Do You Know A Servicemember Who Needs Help Getting Treatment?

Around the United States, including here in North Carolina, we see that the military is overwhelmed as it tries to assist servicemembers.

Here at Veterans For America, where I am proud to be Director of Policy, we are determined to do something to help the men and women who have served us. Part of our efforts include our easy-to-use registry that will help us get you the help you need (or help for someone you know).

A Diary Rescue, And A Needed Presidential Debate

Last night, 11-23-07, testvet6778 placed a Diary, New group wants a Presidential debate or debates on Iraq, Military and veterans issues, on supposedly the most Progressive Political Blog Site on the web, and it barely got a whimper, 35 comments and 15 recommends.

Now maybe it was because it was friday, the day after Thanksgiving, and better known as Black Friday, and folks were just tired from the all day holiday shopping, starting in the wee hours of that morning, the crush of packed stores and all those sucker deals can be overwelming.

I Went WAY Beyond Disgusted Looong Ago

fped, and I'm deleting my duplicate diary. - RP

The citizens of this Country, All Of Us, had really better wake up to the Total Incompetence we have as a Federal Government, All Branches and Almost All of the Agencies, But Most Of All the Department of Defense especially at a time of not one but two major Theaters of Combat Actions Raging!!

We've gone through this All before and this Country just Shrugs and Ho-Hums and moves along!

Below you'll find a Video I just put together of Two Reports out of KDKA TV in Pittsburgh

The first was reported yesterday the second part of the video is one they just reported tonight.

Military Wants 'Bonus' Monies Back - When Wounded!!

My first Veterans' Day

This is a very special Veterans’ Day for me, because it marks the first time I am observing the holiday as a veteran. After 28 years in the U.S. Army National Guard, I retired this year as lieutenant colonel. I am proud to call myself a veteran.

Although I have retired, I have not abandoned the ideals that led me to join the Guard in 1979. I still believe it is our responsibility to protect, defend and strengthen our great country. That is why I am running for Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina.
