Carter vs. Foxx in NC-05: Closest Race in the State!
Submitted by Frank Eaton on Fri, 09/05/2008 - 8:34amFinally, some data to back up all the arm-waving, coat tugging and jumping up and down that we in the Carter campaign have been doing since the primary! Brother Tom Jensen from the PPP interprets this weeks' Democracy Corps poll:
The closest Congressional district in the state is the 5th, where Virginia Foxx leads Roy Carter 48-46. I really hope the DCCC and other folks take the pick up opportunity in this district seriously. There are races on the Red to Blue list that based on the data I've seen are less winnable than this one.

Roy Carter to Virginia Foxx: GAME ON!
Submitted by Frank Eaton on Fri, 08/29/2008 - 8:44amRoy Carter took his battle for Virginia Foxx's seat in Congress to the airwaves last night, running this ad in the district during Barack Obama's triumphant acceptance speech and ESPN's coverage of Wake Forest football's decimation of Baylor.
Message: GAME ON!

NC-05: Republicans on the Run
Submitted by tsitfel on Thu, 05/22/2008 - 2:35pmNorth Carolina’s fifth district, spanning the northwest corner of the state, is currently represented by second term congresswoman Virginia Foxx, who, in addition to being in lockstep with President Bush on nearly every issue, has voted against SCHIP, Hurricane Katrina Relief, and extending the Voting Rights Act. Challenging her is Roy Carter, a longtime high school teacher and football coach whose dedication to public service spans 40 years. This district, until recently a Republican stronghold, is energized for change. Foxx’s approval rating within the district has been dropping steadily for months, and currently is among the lowest of active representatives.
Thank You

I'd like to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation to all members of BlueNC.
No Child Left Behind... unless they drop out.
Submitted by J.Levi.Knapp on Fri, 04/18/2008 - 5:39pm"We need someone in Congress who puts education, educators, and children first. We need someone who will stand up for those voiceless interests rather than appealing to a blind allegiance to the White House’s misguided priorities in educational policy. Who better to stand up for education than a lifelong educator like Roy Carter?"

Debate!
Submitted by RoyJCarter on Tue, 04/15/2008 - 12:28pmI am not a career politician and am new to the debate scene. I am a career educator with a passion for serving the people of our district who have been betrayed by Virginia Foxx and her callous voting record in Congress. I want people to come away from these debates knowing that I am the candidate who will best represent their values, understand the needs of their communities, and always place their best interests above political gain.

Democrats and Socialists As Defined By Virgina Foxx
Submitted by J.Levi.Knapp on Tue, 03/18/2008 - 1:39pm“To me the bigger question is not about liberalism or conservatism; it’s about doing the right thing for the people…” Roy J. Carter, Challenger NC-05
The above quote is in direct response to Virginia Foxx’s question: “I guess that means that he’s supporting them, (Sens. Clinton and Obama), Does it mean that’s he’s supporting the most liberal person in the Senate and the sixteenth most liberal person in the Senate? Is he throwing his hat in the ring with them?”
