We ARE entitled
Words matter in politics. So do promises. Damned right, Social Security and Medicare are entitlements. And damned right the people who pay for them are entitled to what was promised them in return.
Do not let Republicans turn "entitled" into a bad word. You and I ARE entitled to Social Security and Medicare. We cannot stand by and let the Party of Greed unilaterally renegotiate the contracts we have with the country we live in.

Speaking of promises
Sue Myrick promised to term-limit herself out of a job. She lied, and she has not been held accountable for her lies.
Paul Stam promised the unemployment situation in North Carolina would be improved by September. He lied, and he has not been held accountable for his lies.
Thom Tillis promised the Republican budget cuts would not result in teachers being fired. He lied, and he has not been held accountable for his lies.
They did not "stretch the truth." They did not exaggerate. They did not mis-speak. They lied. That makes them liars. And that makes them unsuitable to represent us as elected officials.
Do good. Be nice. Have fun.
They did lie,
and none of their "morally sound" supporters seem to care. Which makes me wonder just how many hypocrites are involved here...
I wish Dems were smarter
The Dems are so stupid sometimes. Rather than playing offense, they let the Regressive/GOPbaggers set the agenda with framing the words and debates. Any rational person with a 4th-grade education knows that "Entitlements" as it appears in the Constitution does not mean "Entitled" as in getting something for nothing...the Thugs have been using their base's ignorance this way for years (i.e. "liberal" becomes "commie" etc...)
But the Dems are so infuriating for not getting out in front on this one by doing the same thing the Thugs do -- "spin"
...start calling them "Earned Benefits" or "Benefits"...and when naming a bill, do the same pandering crap the Thugs do: name the "Jobs Act" the "Saving our Infrastructure from Collapsing on Defenseless Babies" Act or something similar.
The Rethuglican GOPbaggers/Regressives are reprobates and charlatans, but when it comes to messaging, they have been kicking Dem ass for years. We need to fight the same fight, even though it means stooping to their level. This is, afterall, about winning elections and setting the direction of the country.

Great comment
The top dogs, and I do mean dogs, have been kicking
ourDemocrats' asses for years. That's one big reason I'm no longer a Democrat. I'm too liberal for the NCDP in North Carolina. I've had to apologize too many times for boneheaded bullshit artists like Jim Black and half the Democratic members of the General Assembly. Sadly, now we have to apologize for the whole damn state. I'm in NYC this week and people ask, "What the hell is going on in North Carolina?" All I can do is shake my head and explain that we're going through a temporary regression back to the antebellum south, and that we may be in for another civil war. That's how I see it anyway.Do good. Be nice. Have fun.
Exactly right
I tried working for the Dems once but it didn't take long for me to realize how cliquish and inept they were. The problem with suggesting and working towards another party -- i.e. Progressive Party -- is that we would dilute the only firewall we have against the barbarian morons on the Right. I go from sometimes believing we will be able to turn it around someday to almost complete despair. I hope this will pass, but I'm not sure I will live to see it.
