Fuquay Varina Voters - Candidate Party Affiliations

Fuquay-Varina Ballot

Technically, Fuquay-Varina Mayoral and Board of Commissioner races are non-partisan. But, our local elected offices are the breeding grounds for future state and federal office hopefuls. If there is any hope of steering our country back onto a progressive path, it can only start in our own backyards. The above Fuquay-Varina Sample Ballot for the upcoming November 7th election is annotated with party affiliations. It might be helpful if residents from other NC towns and municipalities contribute like information. NO ELECTION IS INCONSEQUENTIAL!

NC Voter Information Sent To Trump's Phoney Baloney Fraud Commission

The only good news is that the SBOE is providing the commission only with the URL to the SBOE website, from where the already publicly available statewide and county-wide voter information files can be downloaded on demand (the files are updated nightly). In other words, Kobach won't see anything we can't already see.

The bad news is that (1) although your birth date is not made public, your birth city, current age and birth year are. Your gender, race and ethnicity are also made public, if provided on your original voter registration application (there's no way to expunge those data once your registration application is processed). (2) The accompanying voter history files provide a list of elections in which we each participated. For any other than Unaffiliated voters, our party affiliation at the time of each election is stored in our history records. For Unaffiliated voters, the party ballot selected for primary elections is recorded. State law prohibits the disclosure of HOW we voted in each election, BUT, the party affiliation recorded in our history files can be easily misconstrued and/or abused by overzealous Kobach committee members to fraudulently skew the data in their favor.

Caught with his pants down

Truth in numbers

Okay, so I have way too much time on my hands while I keep my phalanges cozy and warm as the ice age continues to loom just outside my window. But, give a computer-geek, who battles the threat of brain atrophy brought on by early retirement, a whiff of raw data and expect nothing less than a number crunching frenzy.

The NC State Board of Elections website and its accompanying FTP site, contains a wealth of information. Those who would take the time to do some digging would be simply amazed at how readily the nonsense metastasized by the bigoted cranks running our state is refuted by the very facts and figures made public by one of the many state agencies hemorrhaging strategically placed sycophants.

My view from the edge of my seat

Yesterday, while sitting amongst a room full of waiting patients and requisite drivers, I couldn't help noticing how riveted most were to the drivel offered on TV shows like "Good Morning America" and "Live with Kelly and Michael". Like the zombies depicted on "The Walking Dead", they croaked and grumbled their elation as they ignorantly gorged on the diversions du jour hyped gleefully by ratings crazed blond ladies and well dressed men on behalf of their corporate sponsors. The dreaded Colonoscopy I was waiting for, couldn't come soon enough!

Do over! Do over!

"Wha' happened, Pat?...Art stop short?!"

In a story July 6 about state budget director Art Pope, The Associated Press erroneously attributed a quote from Pope to Gov. Pat McCrory. It was Pope, not McCrory, who said: "My job is to advise the governor and present information to him that's just not my personal advice ... and once the governor makes a decision, my job is to implement those decisions."
